Can CBD help to reduce stress?
It’s no secret that life can be stressful. Whether you’re raising a family, juggling your relationships with your work life, or struggling with the current coronavirus situation, it can be difficult to manage the stresses in your life. With research by the Mental Health Foundation finding that 74% of adults in the UK have felt overwhelmed or unable to cope due to stress, more and more people are looking for ways to help them manage it. In another study, 24 people were given either CBD or a placebo an hour and a half before they had to speak in public - a notoriously stressful situation for most people. The results showed that those receiving the placebo demonstrated the expected high levels of stress but those who received CBD actually saw significantly lower levels, helping to further support the case for CBD for stress relief.
Can CBD help with chronic pain and muscle soreness?
Much like stress, suffering from any form of chronic pain can have a serious detrimental effect on your overall mental health and can leave you unable to go about your normal life. The extent of the problem in the UK is highlighted by the British Pain Society, which states that chronic pain affects more than two fifths of the population, meaning that around 28 million adults are living with pain that has lasted for three months or longer.
If you’re lucky enough to not be affected by chronic pain, the chances are you suffer from aching muscles from time to time - whether it’s after a tough gym session or a run or just a long day on your feet. No matter how serious your pain, feedback from consumers indicates that CBD may have a key role to play in relief, with many citing their chronic pain or muscle soreness is significantly reduced when taking it.
Once again, this consumer feedback is backed up by research which has looked into whether CBD creates anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effects that help with pain management. This report, for example, concluded that CBD is an effective treatment for chronic pain in adults, whilst this separate study suggests that CBD has a role in reducing pain and inflammation. Another review looked at a number of studies which examined how well CBD works to relieve various types of pain. After analysing the studies, researchers concluded that CBD was not only effective in managing pain, but also provided minimal negative side effects.
Is CBD right for you?
