Meet Riya: a nutritionist (BSc, MSc, ANutr) and health writer.

Are iron supplements useful for vegans / vegetarians?

"While iron is found in both animal and plant sources, it can sometimes be more challenging for vegans and vegetarians to obtain sufficient amounts of iron solely from plant-based foods. So supplementation should definitely be considered."

Can you help me understand the label jargon?

"Let’s start with %NRV. The Nutrient Reference Value (NRV), also known as the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) or Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA). When the %NRV is 100%, it means that the product contains the amount of the nutrient considered adequate for daily intake."

What about sugar in the gummies?

"If you're trying to cut down on sugar just know that Yumis contain 3g of sugar per serving which is only 10% of your daily allowance. This small amount can also be enough to suppress the urge to binge on further sugars such as chocolates and sweets."

When can I expect to see results?

"While some individuals may notice improvements within a few weeks, it can take several months for others to see significant changes. The most important thing to see results is to stay consistent when taking your gummies."

As a nutritionist, what are your thoughts on chewable supplements such as Yumi’s?

"Gummies like Yumi are a great alternative to traditional supplements because they can enhance the absorption of nutrients, improve intake consistency and they eradicate issues of supplements getting stuck in the throat."

As a nutritionist, what is your personal favourite Yumi and why?

"Bedtime and 5-HTP for me are a must. The help me get the sleep I need for my busy schedule… and the taste really good."
