Supporting animals affected by Australian wildfires

Posted by Jake Cottrill on

As you will have no doubt seen, Australia is currently suffering from severe wildfires which are devastating the country. Fuelled by a combination of record-breaking temperatures, months of severe drought, and strong winds, the fires have claimed the lives of at least 24 people.

New South Wales is the worst-hit state where 1,300 homes have been destroyed, forcing thousands of people to seek shelter elsewhere. Australian pets and wildlife have been particularly affected with an estimated 480 million animals losing their lives since the start of the bushfires.

For the animals that have survived, the struggle continues with many now in danger of dying of dehydration or starvation. Like everyone around the world, we’ve been horrified to see the impact of the fires so we wanted to play a small part to help protect the animals from further harm.

RSPCA New South Wales (NSW) is a charity in Australia that cares for, treats and re-homes animals across the state. The charity is doing all it can to protect the animals in threatened or affected areas and over the past few days it has taken part in evacuations, gathering animals and taking them to safety.

Until the end of the month, when you purchase any product from our website, you’ll have the option to donate to the RSPCA NSW as it begins the difficult job of entering affected areas and assessing any injured animals. Simply select the amount you wish to donate at the add to basket stage and we’ll match any donation between £1-2.

The money raised will go directly towards the rescue and treatment of native wildlife and livestock who have been most affected by the fires. Thanks for your support and we’ll keep you updated with how much we raise on our social media accounts throughout the month.
