New Year, New You? Four Top Tips for Detoxing

Posted by Jake Cottrill on

Have you been feeling a bit sluggish and lacking in energy recently? Maybe your skin is looking dull and blemished or you’re a bit of shape after indulging a bit too much over Christmas. If so, it might be time for a detox.

Your body has its own sophisticated way of removing unwanted substances but if you don’t look after yourself, your organs become unable to get rid of toxins which can make you feel a bit rubbish and lead to health problems.

Start the year as you mean to go on with our top tips for detoxing and flushing all of the bad stuff out of your system for a healthier you in 2020.

 1.Stay hydrated

Ensuring that you’re properly hydrated is crucial when it comes to detoxing. On top of quenching your thirst, water helps you to absorb nutrients and removes harmful waste products from your blood through sweating, breathing and urination. The benefits don’t end there as H20 is also crucial for regulating body temperature and aiding digestion. Make sure you’re drinking at least two litres of water per day to allow your body to flush out the toxins!

2. Get active

Exercise helps to improve blood circulation which provides nutrients to your organs and muscles. Crucially, exercise also helps your body’s natural detoxification system to function properly and enables you to release toxins through sweat. When you exercise, your body also releases chemicals called endorphins which can boost your overall mood. So whether you enjoy walking, running, pilates, sports or circuit training in the gym, getting your body moving is vital for effective detoxing.

 3.Get some sleep

Making sure that you’re getting enough sleep is also crucial. When you sleep, your brain and body reorganise and recharge, removing toxins that have built up throughout the day and replenishing energy. If you deprive yourself of sleep, there’s not enough time for your body to properly cleanse and refresh which allows toxins to build up. Experts recommend that you should aim for seven to nine hours a night – if you’re having trouble drifting off at night, give our Bedtime gummies a go, they contain a naturally occurring compound called 5HTP which helps to increase your melatonin production which can help you get a good night’s sleep!

 4.Look after your gut

To keep your body’s detoxification system working smoothly, you need to make sure your gut is healthy. Your gut is full of good bacteria which produce nutrients to help you to absorb vital minerals and prevent bad bacteria. A poor diet can unbalance the good bacteria and lead to health problems so make sure you eat a range of plant-based foods, plenty of fibre and avoid highly processed foods. Our Probiotic gummies also help with digestion and overall gut health, making sure that you’re able to absorb all the minerals you need.

Commit to detoxing

Detoxing isn’t always easy and can require a lot of commitment but the results are definitely worth it. The use of supplements is a great and easy way to make sure you’re getting the nutrients, vitamins and minerals you need to support your cleansing efforts. While we’ve already mentioned our Sleep & Relax and Gut Health chewable supplements, our Lean & Detox apple cider vinegar gummies are also fantastic for detoxing as they support your body with the removal of toxins and aid weight loss.
